This 20-card self-checking sentence diagramming set is inspired by the Newbery Award–winning novel The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare. The story follows Kit, a young girl from Barbados who is forced to adapt to strict Puritan life in late 1600s New England. These cards provide meaningful grammar practice while reinforcing key themes, characters, and events from the novel.

Each card features a sentence to parse and diagram on the front. Simply flip the card over to reveal the completed diagram and check the student's work instantly.

Rather than following a weekly grammar focus, the sentences are intentionally mixed. This gives students practice recognizing and diagramming a variety of structures in context, just as they appear in real reading. With all four sentence structures and six of the seven sentence patterns represented, this set is ideal for reinforcing grammar concepts and developing sentence analysis skills. Examples include:

The difficulty level is medium making this a good set for students who are have a strong sentence diagramming foundation, but want to learn more.
