Medieval to Modern History
Brashcards are designed 4 to each letter-sized page. They should be printed duplex, with the diagrams for the sentences printing on the back side. When setting up your print settings, be sure that it's set to flip the paper on the SHORT side--otherwise, the diagrams won't match up! Detailed instructions are included.
The reverse side of each sheet of Brashcards shows the structure, purpose, pattern(s), and diagram for the sentence. Color coding helps students learn to quickly and easily identify different parts of speech.
Teachers can cut each page into 4 separate cards. This shows the front of a Brashcard, which you can dictate to your student or place in an inexpensive 4x6 photo album and let them use a Sharpie to parse it before diagramming.
The reverse side of each card will show the student the diagram for the sentence. Students can easily check their own work with Brashcards!
Each set of Brashcards includes a worksheet for each sentence. Students can parse and diagram the sentence, then flip over their Brashcard to check their work.

Now updated for the 5th Edition EEL Guide from Classical Conversations!

Our second set of history-themed Brashcards includes 96 sentences with subject matter that spans the time period from the Middle Ages to the present day. Beginning with Charlemagne and with simple sentence construction, the cards will provide students with an opportunity to practice their diagramming skills in increasing detail as they progress all the way to the end of apartheid in South Africa and compound-complex constructions.

Designed with 4 cards per sheet (week), there are 24 weeks' worth of cards for students to use. Laminate the cards for extra durability and to allow students to write on the fronts of the cards with markers as they parse each word. After they're finished, simply flip over the card to determine whether their parsing and diagram is correct.

This product is a digital download: by your purchase, you are acknowledging that no physical cards will be shipped to you. The product is a PDF file that can be downloaded and viewed on a computer or printed on card stock and cut to make 96 individual cards (sized 5.5" x 4.25").

This set is designed to complement a complete grammar curriculum such as Classical Conversations' Essentials program and would be appropriate for Weeks 1-24 of Essentials.
