Welcome to our clubhouse!

Hi! My name is Ace and each week here at the Grammar Nerds clubhouse, I'm going to give my friends a sentence to parse and diagram. Since tomorrow will be  Presidents Day in the United States, I thought I'd give you a sentence related to that.

George Washington was the first President of the United States of America.

Can you parse and diagram this sentence? What is its structure (simple, compound, complex, compound-complex) and purpose (declarative, imperative, exclamatory, interrogative)?
